Estate Planning/Asset Stewardship

Estate planning is about the ability to pass your assets on to successive generations. Estate planning is about the minimization of after-death taxation. Estate planning is about the preservation of one’s values and the care of loved ones.

This means different things to different people. In some cases, it is documentary, i.e., wills, powers of attorney and health-care directives. In more complex situations, it can involve trusts, estate tax planning, extended health care or assisted living. Not infrequently, a family will have a special-needs situation involving disabilities, medical or dependency issues that require careful and extensive planning.

Aurora is experienced in all facets of estate planning including, but not limited to, the creation of personal wills, successor planning, trust strategies, special-needs planning, charitable giving and the critical review of all pertinent support documents. Where indicated, business agreements are reviewed and buy/sell or key man programs installed. Aurora has created extensive annual gifting programs and participated (on behalf of clients) in significant charitable gifting. Part of our standard periodic review is the updating of all aspects of estate planning.
